To highlight the formative contribution of Jewish art collectors to modern art in Germany and to commemorate their persecution and the loss of their collections under National Socialism.
The exhibition “From Monet to Picasso. Jewish Art Collectors in Germany” at the Bucerius Kunst Forum in Hamburg focuses on Jewish collectors who played a decisive role in advancing modern art in Germany. It brings together significant works from their collections, which are now dispersed across the world, and tells the stories of the people behind them. The Alfred Landecker Foundation supports the exhibition, which honours their cultural contribution while also highlighting the consequences of antisemitic exclusion and persecution under National Socialism.
